One Mole Digging a Hole by Julia Donaldson and Nick Sharratt has lots of funny rhyming with garden animals. Six parrots pullling up carrots? Eight crows with a garden hose?!
This story can be used to focus on numbers 1 to 10 and animals. Children can also focus on garden vocabulary and rhyming. This story would also tie in well as part of a unit on houses and where we live.
