Eat Your Peas by Kes Gray and Nick Sharratt is a simple but very funny story that kids love. Daisy doesn’t want to eat her peas and her Mum makes crazier and crazier suggestions to try to get her to eat them: “If you eat your peas, you don’t have to wash ever again, or go to bed. I’ll buy you 100 chocolate factories…” etc. This story is great for language learning because it allows you to focus on daily routines, places in a town and, of course, food and emotions. It also helps children acquire a good feel for structures that they may learn in a more structured way later.
