Play in your classroom, online or as individual practice at home. Based on Go Away Big Green Monster by Ed Emberley, kids follow instructions to create different monsters, change monsters and finally create and describe their own monsters.
There are 20 different cards in 3 groups:
The audio is recorded in Scottish Standard English.
These interactive task cards will help your young learners practise their listening and literacy skills. At the same time, they will gain confidence in key vocabulary: colours and parts of the face. Your students will also develop their feel for grammar, such as adjective order. Using the last 5 slides, they will be able to practise using the language they have learned.
Try the Playable Preview to get a better idea of how it works.
Cards 1-10: Kids can listen, read, and then drag the pieces into place. Each card contains a range of body parts of different colours that the children have to select correctly before moving onto the next card.
Cards 11-15: Again kids listen and read but with these cards, they have to move the correct body parts into the trash. Just like in the story, the children can have a good giggle at making the monster disappear!
Cards 16-20: These cards will accept any combination of body parts, so the kids can get creative making their own monsters and then describing them. Why not take some screenshots that you can come back to them in another session. Can they remember whose monster is whose? You could even print them and create a nice display or even use them in a writing activity.

It's like playing with stickers!
In my in-person classes, I like to use magnetic toys and sticker sets for picture dictations. I love this game because it’s something similar that I can use in my online classes. The kids like it because it’s hands-on and silly!
