The Very Hungry Caterpillar - Listen and Choose cover

Use in the classroom, online or as independent practice at home. These interactive digital task cards help kids develop their oral comprehension, and build their vocabulary.

What is included?

There are 22 different task cards organised into 3 groups. Kids listen to the audio and choose the corresponding picture from the simplified Hungry Caterpillar story.

The cards play in order and get progressively more challenging in terms of language. They start with the fruit and days, then the other food items and finally focus on key story events.

The audio is recorded in Scottish Standard English. The images are the same as those in The Very Hungry Caterpillar Digital Story.

What will my students learn?

These cards will help provide further exposure to the story language. They will practise recognising key topic vocabulary including food, days of the week, and language to describe the butterfly lifecycle.  Your students will also develop their listening skills, and acquire more familiarity with English sentence structure.

Cards 1 to 5: Key fruit vocabulary and days of the week
Cards 6 to 15: Food items the caterpillar eats on Saturday
Cards 16 to 22: Story event cards

Try the Playable Preview to get a better idea of how it works.
