One Mole Digging a Hole

One Mole Digging a Hole by Julia Donaldson and Nick Sharratt is a favourite with young children. As this rhyming story progresses the animals seem to be getting more and more silly. Six parrots pullling up carrots? Eight crows with a garden hose?!

This story can be used to focus on numbers 1 to 10 and animals. For children ready for a greater challenge, learning language related to gardens and the home and focusing on the rhyming words is perfect. This story would also tie in well as part of a unit on houses and where we live.

If you would like your own copy of the book, you can find one here.
